Someone Like You review

"There are some things in this world you rely on, like a sure bet. And when they let you down, shifting from where you've carefully placed them, it shakes your faith, right where you stand."

Unlike other Sarah Dessen books, this already started off on a high note so it's a good read!

I enjoy stories about friendship the most. Something about it is so comforting, especially this one because it hit so close to home.

Scarlett and Halley have been the best of friends since God knows when. They aren't necessarily the perfect fit for each other but they get by somehow. Scarlett is the eccentric one who gets along with everyone and Halley is the shy one who keeps to herself. Scarlett has alwas been the strong one between the both of them. But when Michael, her boyfriend is suddenly taken away from their lives, the roles have reversed and Halley is the one who needs to keep her composure for the both of them.

Suddenly, Macon, Michael's best friend, emerges from the shadows and starts to spend a lot of time with Halley and for the first time, Halley feels different. She's doing things she has never done before and it's exhilarating but her parents don't like it. Not one bit. However, the more she's held back, the more she's determined to break away from her mothers all too strong grasp.

I think I related to this story so much not only in the aspect of Halley and Scarlett's relationship but also with my struggle with freedom in terms of my parents. It's definitely a great book from start to finish!
