Brotherhood Part 1

It's the last day of November and I think it was pretty well spent! Today is Andres Bonifacio day and I thank him for the additional day to my weekend. It's funny how I was in Bonifacio Global City today.. Hahahaha! The title for this post is Brotherhood because I spent my day with my group of friends who call each other "Bro" so I only saw it appropriate. I don't have the pictures with my friends yet so i'll probably have those to follow. ☺

But I will tell you about my purchases! I've been saving for my next trip to The Fort because it is home to the biggest branch of Fully Booked (my favorite bookstore). I call it 'home' ♥ And I had Dolly magazine reserved ages ago because I think only one copy is shipped to the Philippines from Australia. I got it today and it was so expensive (huhu bye money) but it was well worth it! While I was scouting for other things to purchase, I discovered a book entitled Take Me There. The summary at the back looked interesting to I got it. Also, I found this really cute passport holder that could be a wallet so I got that as well.

Outside and inside of the "Wallet"
Overall, I spent all of my money but I loved that I got to spend the last day of November with such wonderful friends. It made up for all those sucky days during this month. I can't wait for December which is in about 3 hours!
Stay tuned for the pictures to follow!

Along For The Ride review

"Imagine wasting 2 years of your life, like I did"

I've been getting busy with the books I've been reading since sem break. Right after finishing Will Grayson, Will Grayson I headed straight for a Sarah Dessen book.

Along For The Ride is such a beautiful story centered on Auden, an uptight eighteen year old set for her college experience at the prestigious Defriese. She is an over-achiever and simply does not settle for mediocre. But the summer before her freshman year, she decides to stay with her dad and his new wife, Heidi together with their newborn daughter. Auden's parents have been separated for a long time with a few unresolved issues and it has taken it's toll on Auden's sleeping habits. An insomniac, she constantly fears the night ahead of her; Afraid she won't find anything to fill the darkness.

As soon as Auden arrives in Colby, she realizes that she has missed out on so much. As she meets Maggie, Leah and Esther it dawns on her that she's been living her life for the sole pleasure of pleasing her mother with her exceptional intelligence. Coming into Colby, Auden was hesitant to reach out to anybody but the longer she stayed, the more she relaxed. That's when she met Eli. A seemingly mysterious boy who doesn't give more than one word answers. Auden is perplexed until one day, she hears his story.

I loved this story because I could very well relate to Auden. There are more things in life than just good grades. We all need to live a little and this book will teach you just that. ☺ The story is a little slow at first but stick with it. It gets so much better and you won't regret a thing!

What A Nuisance

The title for this post seems wrong so I'll probably get around to changing it when I find one that's more suitable. November is coming to a close and I couldn't be happier to see December finally roll by. ☺ I can't really say that November was magical or anything. I didn't even think it was fun.. AT ALL (haha).

Nonetheless! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (*insert tune here*) and I had my mom buy me some Peeps because they're finally in season again. Yum!

Peeps marshmallows!
I'm still scouting for a good brand of markers because I'm pretty sure mine are going to run out pretty soon. My prized possession of coloring materials!

Markers☺
I think I stated in another post of mine that I revived my Lego toys. Good news! Ferrari and Shell (the gasoline station) have tied up for these limited edition toys that you can purchase for a receipt of 1500 pesos. Super cute! I really wanted them to add to my car collection. Yes I collect cars (I think I'm secretly a boy hahah kidding). 3 more designs to go!

3 of the 6 cars. ☺

Will Grayson, Will Grayson review

I've forgotten what it's like to completely immerse myself into a good book and I did just that last Sunday when I finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson from cover to cover in less than a day. I know I haven't been reading much and when I noticed that my schedule for the weekend was pretty clear, I pulled the book out from my bookshelf and started reading. ☺

I was a little hesitant when I flipped through the first few pages of this book because I really didn't know what to feel towards it. This was my first book by John Green and second by David Levithan (both are extraordinary authors). The use of language is understandable for anyone atleast 12 (an estimate) but there are times when the characters curse but not so often that it's insulting.

The story touches on most of the issues teenagers face nowadays including depression, homosexuality, insecurity, love/infatuation and much more. The plot is centered on the alternating lives of 2 boys named Will Grayson whose experiences are completely different from each other. If you've heard that this is a gay (guy to guy) book, it is. But not hardcore like any sexual scenes or something. I mean, sure there is kissing at one point or another but rest assured, nothing is scandalizing.

Dialogue from the book
My personal favorite from all the characters is Tiny Cooper because he was the one I could mostly relate to. Being under appreciated and all. He voices most of his feelings but not in an annoying way like most characters do just to get attention. While reading, I really felt like Tiny was genuine with what he felt and was not pretentious at all.

This book was honest, hilarious and heart-warming in so many ways and I loved it from start to finish. Although there is part in the story that might get you confused, it is very understandable. There was never a dull moment. ☺

Sinister review

"Once you see him, nothing can save you"

Being the horror movie junkie that I'm, I was craving to see this movie when I had read reviews that it would keep you up at night. Little did I know that I would be so disappointed.

Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) is a crime novelist looking to find fame again after his book "Kentucky blood." To do so, he decides to move his family into the actual scene of the crime where is he is investigating the murder of a family with only a sole survivor. As the moving takes place, Ellison comes across a box of super 8 film in the attic and is eaten by his curiosity. He sits down one night at his office and is very bewildered to find that one of the films is about the very family he is writing his book about.

As the night goes on, Ellison views more of the film and discovers that there are more murders that follow a pattern. The whole family is killed except for one member, a child. He is bothered by series of questions like who is filming this? Or who is the mastermind and where are the missing children? As he goes through more film, he sees a demonic creature of some kind watching the murders take place. It just so happens that this creature is Bagulwho would kill entire families so that he could take their children into his realm and consume their souls.

But after a series of night terrors from his son and a few frightening occurrences at night, Ellison decides that he needs to leave the house and forget about everything that happened. As he tries to start over in a new household, he discovers again, the box of super 8 film in his attic which he previously tried destroying prior to the move. His friend the deputy gives him a call about how the murders are connected: Every family had previously lived in the house where the last murder took place, and each new murder occurred shortly after the family moved into their new residence; by moving, Ellison has placed himself and his family in line to be the next victims.

I'm not going to spoil the ending of this movie but I'm pretty sure you can figure it out based from the summary I just gave you. This is a pretty slow paced movie and it doesn't change settings more than twice. The majority of the scenes were in the house itself. Bagul's appearance isn't even frightening in my opinion. A demonic creature in a black jacket with long shaggy hair and white face paint who doesn't even have a mouth? I don't think so. A few scenes will probably make you cringe but this won't keep you up at night. I liked the concept of the story and I think it could have been developed more but the ending lacked creativity and it's like the director didn't even know who the real demon was.

Breaking Dawn Part 2 review

"Immortality suits you"

Watching this movie took me way back to 4 years ago when I was reading the Twilight saga. I remember being so addicted to this book that I did not do my homework or get enough sleep just so I could have my fill. Sitting in the cinema made me relieve all those pages I read full of passion between 2 people.

I was actually very surprised when I saw Bella (Kristen Stewart). She was very beautiful. I was kind of doubting whether she could pull of the vampire thing but nonetheless, she did her role justice. Edward (Robert Pattinson) was equally as gorgeous. *swoon*

Of course, since Breaking Dawn is quite lengthy, they cannot include all scenes into the movie. However, I was still a little disappointed that a great number of parts from the book were not included and even if it runs for a good 1 hour and 56 minutes, I still felt like it fell short of a few more minutes. I would have enjoyed a little more Edward, Bella and Renesmee time. Also, some of the graphics were obviously computer generated to the point where it nearly looked fake.

Even so, I appreciated how the movie was well adapted from the book. The cast was also very well chosen. Most of them were even how I pictured them in my head. The last scene was very intense and fans who have read this book will especially enjoy the fight scene. I recommend that you watch this movie even if you are not a fan of the Twilight series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. ☺

Day in & Day out

So good news. I finally got my PC to work so I can once again upload pictures! ☺

This post is mostly going to be about what went down during my sem break. And I'm not gonna say much because nothing exciting really happened. (Haha)

I know I was supposed to review a lot of books during the break especially because I had a lot of time on my hands but I never even really got around to reading anything.. I mean, I wanted to but I was always out with someone so my books were left untouched. I did however, purchase two more books so I now have 5 books on my to-read list.

Zombies Vs. Unicorns by various authors and That Summer by Sarah Dessen
I was also on the phone everyday. This would be late at night so again, no time to read my books.

Ugly phones, I know ☻
I also went berserk over Taylor magazines again. This is nothing new but it has been awhile since I had a Taylor haul so this probably something to blog about.

Also, My Red deluxe package finally arrived. And yet, I have not listened to the album. What a loser. (Hahaha). I loved the products that came with the album by the way! My personal favorite is the note ♥

Red bonus package retailing for $49.99
I feel like I'm growing up too fast. (Doesn't everyone?) So one night, I pulled out my box of lego and there ya have it. A lego house ☺

Till next time! ☺

IMAGINARIUM

I have many recollections of this night but not a lot of pictures to back them up. I for one hate bringing a lot of stuff to events especially when I know I'll be leaving them somewhere anyway so I decided on not bringing a camera for safety purposes.

The ticket (it says IMAGINARIUM) taken inside my bag
Last November 10, St. Scholastica's College, Manila held a high school dance open for everyone 12 years old and above. (Yes there is an age requirement haha)

This is an annual event and this one happened to be my last since I'm a senior already so I didn't think twice about coming. The night started off on a high note and the pulsing music and eclectic music kept my energy up the whole night. I spent the majority of my night with my best friend but I kept moving around from my different group of friends just to make sure that I could spend a piece of  that beautiful night with everyone. No regrets! This has got to be my best High School Dance yet!

Me and my friends! We're incomplete though. :(

Webcam

So I was super bored last night and I decided to play around with my webcam. I know this is really weird but it is what it is. (HAHAHA)
I've also been meaning to post something about my sem break but my PC is broken and I have no where else to upload my pictures so I'll probably be able to get right on that in about a week or so. Sorry about the delay!
