The Avengers review

The other day, my parents had this sudden urge to watch The Avengers. Because I was craving cold air and something to do, I willingly tagged along. I can't believe I was in for a shock.

I had no idea what this movie would be like because none of my friends had watched it just yet. I just watched the trailer and that was it. Overall, the movie was amazing. It is however, connected to the movies of the characters in it so some background knowledge would help you understand this movie. Basically, Loki, Thor's brother has come down from Asgard to sort of rule/destroy the world (that bit was not clear) and Captain America, The Hulk and Iron Man are called in to stop him. Along the way Thor comes to help. However, if along the movie you start to feel like the enemy is somewhat like Transformers, you are not alone. The scary similarity among movies kind of takes away the excitement. The movie was still great, anyway. It is a definite must watch.

CULTURAL

Isn't it always exciting to learn about a culture apart from yours? It's interesting when you meet people and see places that are more surprising to what you're normally used to. So when my friends Lorelee and Yanna took me to the Korean Cultural Center today, I won't lie. I was skeptic about it. I have never been out of the country so I was definitely in for a shock. Nevertheless, the experience was exhilarating and I was so abound with knowledge the minute I left those doors. What's so great about the place is it is free. YES, FREE. Just don't forget to bring some form of identification. Located around global city, it may be a bit difficult to locate though.

Music, paintings and books are one of the numerous things offered for display. While classes are being given, you may visit the library. The ambiance of the room renders you ease. No doubt you'll feel relaxed in minutes.

Battleship review

Besides the vast layout of the ocean, the colossal size of the ships and the really good cast, I don't see how this movie could get any better. I'm not big on plots about aliens attacking the world, but for this I have to make an exception. From the beginning until the end, I was at the edge of my seat trying really hard not to pull my hair off my head (not an exaggeration.)
I don't know about you but this is so similar to the movie Transformers however Battleship seemed to attract me more. I guess it was the thought of life outside of earth actually being more real than science could explain that made me consider the impossible. It's not so much the sci-fi but also the need for earth to be rescued from a being similar to ours. The cinematography was good and running time is perfect. Set in Hawaii, the beautiful landscape contrasts the ammunition that is set to make this movie awesome.

Oh and did I mention that Rihanna is in it too? HOT.

STUTTERING

You know how when you watch reality shows and you instantly choose a contestant who you think is the best and deserves to win. Throughout the show, that person is the one you root for until the end. Suddenly, there's a turn of events and that person is going home and the show sucks especially when someone else deserved to go home. Well I just went through that again because it's summer and I'm a TV junkie once again. I think you know I'm referring to the latest episode of American Idol season 11 wherein Jessica Sanchez was NEARLY booted off the show. Nevertheless, her remarkable talent kept her on the show. Not something usual that happens, but it did. I'm a bit disappointed with the outcome of the bottom 3 this week and I'm not a hater, but in my opinion it was Hollie who should have left the competition. I'm just saying. However, I'm glad that Jessica will be back for another week. For those fortunate enough to be able to vote, please do. :)
